From Discover Moose Jaw:
A world record was broken in Moose Jaw on Sunday. Moose Jaw’s Ken Parsons broke the Guinness World Record for Individual Karaoke Marathon after singing for 55 hours 11 minutes and 30 seconds throughout the weekend. The old record was 48 hours.
Parsons couldn’t believe he actually did it, “I’m exhausted, I’m exhilarated, I’m so grateful for all the help and support that I’ve got to get this done. I don’t think it’s totally sunk in yet.”
“By nine o’clock, I was at the point where I couldn’t talk, I was only coming out with barely audible tunes. Then, by 11:30 the congregation came after the service and I tried to pick it up a bit and something snapped, something clicked and all of a sudden I got my voice back”, adds Parsons.
Parsons says it isn’t official just yet, he has to send in the video evidence and all the time sheets to Guinness for approval before the record becomes official.

The New York Times reports on the rash of murders in the Philippines that were caused by poor karaoke singers attempting Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.”
The authorities do not know exactly how many people have been killed warbling “My Way” in karaoke bars over the years in the Philippines, or how many fatal fights it has fueled. But the news media have recorded at least half a dozen victims in the past decade and includes them in a subcategory of crime dubbed the “My Way Killings.”
